Coed Scouting: Troop 78 has been open to boys since 1963 and, as of 2021, we have offered our full Troop 78 Scouting program equally to both boys and girls.

In 2024, our troop was one of a limited number of units accepted into the national Scouting America pilot program that allows a more coed experience through summer 2025. It is our hope that this coed experience becomes a permanent option. At Troop 78, girls and boys participate fully at the same place and same time. That's because the world is coed and now is the best time for boys and girls to learn how to work together through our exciting, challenging program.

Our troop includes 75 Scouts aged 10-17 years old in 6 patrols, including 22 girls in two girl patrols (plus high school aged girls in our older Scout Venture Patrol).

We begin recruiting each September for new youth who will join the troop the following March. In March 2026, we plan to invite approximately 10-12 new Scouts including roughly 6-7 boys and 4-5 girls. Please contact us anytime in August or later to schedule a visit over the fall or winter.

Troop 78 is now recruiting:

Visit a Weekly Meeting: (Please do not visit without scheduling in advance.)  At our weekly meetings, new families will see our Scouts preparing for the next outing. Schedule a visit and an Assistant Scoutmaster and a Scout will greet you, introduce your Scout to a patrol for the evening, offer a tour of our Scout rooms, discuss the key aspects of Troop 78's program, and answer any questions.

To Schedule a Visit, please contact ASM Scott Michalik at scott.michalik@gmail.com. We meet most Monday nights at 7 p.m at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 3700 Baseline Rd., Boulder, CO 80303.

Visit a Monthly Outing: For our 2026 recruiting year, we are inviting potential new members to visit our October Survival Campout and our January Pre-Klondike. We ask that every potential new member visit at least one weekly troop meeting as well as at least one of those two outings. If you are unable to prioritize visiting us several times, it may affect your invitation status when we begin accepting applications to join.

Applying to Join Troop 78: Each February 1st at 7:00 p.m., we open our New Scout Commitment Form, which is a request to join our troop. Some years, we can invite everyone who applies to join. Some years, there are more youth interested than we have room to accept.
