Troop 78
Scout Troop 78 was founded in Boulder, Colorado in 1963 and continues to be one of the most active and successful Scout troops in Colorado.
Get to know Troop 78 and our old-school approach to Scouting.
Our program is a leadership and teamwork program set in the outdoors. Boys and girls learn outdoor and people skills by leading each other and collaborating with adults on challenging weekend and week-long adventures.
We spend more time outside than inside. We meet weekly, camp monthly all year-round, and enjoy adventures each summer. See our Outings & Adventures.
We’re engaging. Our troop gets new Scouts engaged through our On to First Class program and then keeps youth interested in Scouting through high school by offering leveled challenges through our Stairstep to Adventure Program. Our troop retains Scouts through junior and senior years of high school and sometimes beyond.
Our program is Scout-led and adult-enabled. Scouts run the meetings, choose the outings, and run the programming. Adults advise, mentor, and keep it safe and wholesome.
We use Scouting’s Patrol Method to teach leadership skills.
We focus on skills, abilities, and leadership. Rank advancement occurs naturally through participation in Troop 78 outings and adventures.
Our troop runs as coed as possible. Troop 78 has included girls in our program since 2021. At this time, we have 22 girls ranging from age 10 to age 16 in our troop. In fall 2024, Troop 78 was admitted to the Scouts BSA national pilot program allowing a more coed experience, yet still following rules to maintain a positive experience for all. It is our hope that this becomes a permanent option. See more info on girls in Troop 78.
Troop 78 provides Scouts with opportunities to develop citizenship, leadership, self-esteem, confidence, self-reliance, resourcefulness, and a genuine desire to help others at all times. Go deeper into the Troop 78 Way.
